Thanks for checking out our new album. The genre, Acoustic Americana, is our generations own. It’s just us, using what we’ve got, voice and guitar. HEY TODAY and SURE LOOKS BAD are songs about hard times and resilience. LUCKY DOG was inspired by a very special Siberian husky named McKinley. KIDS is an anti-war song. FEELS LIKE FLYIN’ is a civil rights anthem in disguise. PANCAKES 3 AM is ‘our' song… and, of course, yours too.
When I lived in Nashville I did a little songwriting, but I was more passionate about performing. I frequented writers nights, searching for new material to sing and record. I met an eccentric character, Mike, who hosted a weekly songwriters show. He and I would meet at bars to hang with other musicians and singers. One afternoon he took me to the legendary Harlan Howard’s house for a meet and greet. Great memory! Mike also worked for a music publisher and brought me in to listen to songs from their catalogue. When he got to Jerry Holland’s music I said, “Now that’s a good writer!” Spontaneously I asked Mike if Jerry was single… he said, “I think so. He just wrote the #1 song, FRIENDS, recorded by country star Jon Michael Montgomery and he’s a third degree black belt too.” The next thing I knew we were out on a blind date. Fast forward a few years and we’re still going strong, performing and recording together. What a blast!
